Profile / Duties
The Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO) in Angers offers a 12-month traineeship within the People & Resources Unit.
This traineeship is designed for high-potential graduates seeking broad exposure to organisational management in an EU agency. Rather than being confined to a single domain, the trainee will contribute across several strategic areas of the Unit, including:
The purpose of the traineeship is not to allocate predefined percentages of time to each field, but to offer a dynamic and integrated experience reflecting how modern organisations operate: interconnected, data-driven and impact-oriented.
Working under the supervision of the Head of Unit and in close collaboration with the team, the trainee will:
1. Human Resources & Organisational Development
2. Accounting, Finance & Resource Management
3. Internal Control & Governance
4. Sustainability & Greening Network
The trainee will work across these domains depending on organisational needs and project priorities, thereby gaining a holistic understanding of how strategy, people, governance and resources interact in an EU agency. We are looking for intellectually curious, analytical and proactive candidates who are motivated to understand how organisations create value in complex institutional environments.
Trainees are for the CPVO highly skilled professionals, whose capacities are very much valorised.
The human dimension of the Agency together with the wide range of tasks dealt in it will allow the trainee to truly understand and experience what it is to work for an EU institution. Pro-activity and flexibility are highly valued at the CPVO.

General Conditions
To be considered eligible, applicants must satisfy the following requirements on the closing date for the submission of applications:
- Be a national of an EU Member State;
- Enjoy full rights as a citizen;
- Have a university degree (minimum a bachelor) in Management, Public Administration, Economics, Business Analytics, Sustainability Management, International Relations, Finance or related relevant fields;
- Have a thorough knowledge of one of the official languages of the European Union and satisfactory knowledge of another official language of the EU.
Candidates who fulfilled a traineeship in an EU institution are eligible to apply.
Contractual Conditions
- The successful candidate will be offered a traineeship of 12 months, not renewable.
- Grant: trainees will be awarded a monthly traineeship grant, equal to 25% of basic salary for EU officials in grade AD5 step 1 as of 31.12.2025, plus the correction coefficient for France (for information: 1.747 € in 2026).
- The traineeship will take place in Angers (France).
- Starting date: 1 October 2026
