The Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO), located in Angers (France), invites applications for a traineeship of 12 months.

Profile / Duties

The Legal Service of the CPVO deals with all legal aspects related to the plant variety rights protection system and the functioning of the CPVO. The Registry deals with applications and titles for Community plant variety rights. The trainee will participate in the work of the Registry and the Legal Service of the Office. The primary tasks will be to provide support to the activities of the Registry of plant variety rights and the Registry of public access to documents. This includes the revision of requests for public access to documents and of confirmatory requests pursuant to Regulation (EC) 1049/2001 of 30/5/2001. His/her additional tasks may include, among others, providing assistance in conducting legal searches, attending Office committees’ meetings, drafting decisions, reviewing contracts, providing support in the preparation of seminars and presentations on plant variety and Intellectual Property related issues. Please note that applications can be sent to the Office in any of the official EU languages; knowledge of multiple EU official languages is considered an asset.

Contractual Conditions

The successful candidate will be offered a traineeship of 12 months (not renewable).

Grant: trainees will be awarded a monthly traineeship grant, equal to 25% of basic salary for EU officials in grade AD5 step 1 as of 31.12.2020, plus the correction coefficient for France (for information: 1.481,33 € in 2021).

The place of traineeship is Angers (France). Depending on the sanitary situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the traineeship may be carried out remotely (partly or entirely).

Start date:  1st October 2021
